Tommy A. Gomez is happy to return to MSU, having previously directed Pygmalion in 2007. He most recently directed As You Like It at the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, and prior to that Footloose at East Lansing High School. Additional directing credits include: Julius CaesarLas Dos Caras Del PatroncitoMacbethHenry VIPart 1 and two productions each of A Winters TaleA Midsummer Nights Dream and The Comedy of Errors. He has worked extensively as a regional theatre actor for the past twenty-five years with an emphasis in classical theatre, particularly the works of William Shakespeare. A few of his favorite Shakespearean roles include Bottom, Iago, MacBeth, Don Armado and Dogberry. Some regional theatre credits include the Old Globe Theatre, American Conservatory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Huntington Theatre, L.A. Theatre Works, Aurora Theatre Company, TheatreWorks, California Shakespeare Festival, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, the Purple Rose Theatre, and BoarsHead Theatre. Some teaching credits include The American Conservatory Theater, University of California – Santa Cruz, Hillsdale College, and Lansing Community College. Gomez has also done extensive work as a drama instructor with incarcerated youth in the California, Alabama, and Michigan juvenile justice systems. He is also a recipient of the Tanne Foundation award for artistic achievement in acting.
