Scott Burkell is a director, writer and actor currently residing in Manhattan. As an actor he has appeared on Broadway in the Tony award winning best musical Titanic also touring the country in the musical’s first national tour. He has also worked extensively at many regional and stock theatres doing over 100 shows at the Barn theatre in Augusta, Michigan. As a director he most recently directed the premiere of his musical Ella Minnow Pea at the University of Michigan. With his writing partner, Paul Loesel, he has written the book and lyrics for their musicals, The Extraordinary OrdinaryElla Minnow Pea and their musical revue, Sorta Love Songs. They are Jonathan Larson award winners and have been chosen to participate in the ASCAP musical theatre workshop run by Stephen Schwartz. They were nominated for a MAC award for their cabaret show, Love Songs and Other Crap. Most recently their revue, Sorta Love Songs was performed at the Birdland jazz club in Manhattan by Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, Stephanie J. Block and Daniel Reichard. They were invited to be a part of the Kennedy Center’s Broadway: The Third Generation series in early 2009 where they performed their songs with Stephanie J. Block.
