Arts and Cultural Management

Tina M. Newhauser, began her arts management career in the professional performing arts industry just after MTV made its national television debut. In the later magical years of the 80’s she had the pleasure to stage manage for regional theatres such as Porthouse theatre, Crossroads Theatre, Playhouse on the Square, Circuit Playhouse, Boarshead Theatre, and the Peterborough Players. When the mid 90’s staggered in she moved to NYC and began working for such groundbreaking theatre companies as WPA, Signature Theatre, WestBeth Theatre, Roundabout Theatre, and Manhattan Theatre Club. After a few inspiring years working downtown (her favorite production being her long running show THWAK, starring the physically & vocally flexible duo from downunder, The Umbilical Brothers) she trekked uptown to work on Broadway on the Tony nominated play Say Good night Gracie, written by the talented Rupert Holmes and starring Frank Gorshin, and then the Tony award winning musical The Boy From Oz, written by Nick Enright and Martin Sherman and starring the ever gracious Hugh Jackman. The NY theatre community opened its doors allowing Tina to work with such industry greats as Liza Minnelli, Bebe Neuwirth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Eddie Izzard, Estelle Parsons, Andre DeShields, Robin Wagner, Don Holder, and John Lee Beatty. In addition to stage managing for theatre, Tina worked as Production Coordinator for the mounting of the 132nd Ringling Bro’s Circus and Production Manager for Off-Broadway and a regional touring venue the Capital Center for the Arts. Managing for the CCA, allowed Tina to work on more than 150 events and shows with artists such as Indigo Girls, BB King, Chris Botti, Chelsea Handler, and Train. Tina spent the last few years working for the University of Houston as General Manager at the Cullen Performance Hall and teaching energetic theatre students before she moved back to work at MSU. During most of these aforementioned years (and for the foreseeable future years) Tina free-lances in the Event Industry as an event and corporate state manager. She has managed business theatre events for companies such as Abbott Lab, MasterCard, Samsung, Motorola, and NASA and has allowed them to take her to exotic locations across the country and the globe; places like India, Venice and the ever picturesque: Pittsburg. Tina is married and lives with a technical director husband and two extremely talented young artists Zackery & Sofia.
