Stage Management
Arts and Cultural Management

Tina M. Newhauser began her arts management career in the performing arts industry just after MTV made its national television debut. In the later years of the 80’s & early 90’s she had the pleasure to stage manage for regional theatre companies such as Porthouse theatre, Crossroads Theatre, Playhouse on the Square, Circuit Playhouse, Boarshead Theatre, Springfield Arts, and the Peterborough Players.

In the mid 90’s she moved to NYC and began working for such groundbreaking theatre companies as WPA, Signature Theatre, WestBeth Theatre, Roundabout Theatre, and Manhattan Theatre Club. After a few inspiring years working commercially downtown (her favorite production being the long running show THWAK, starring the physically & vocally flexible duo from downunder, The Umbilical Brothers) she trekked uptown to work on Broadway. Her Broadway credits include the Tony nominated play Say Goodnight Gracie, written by the talented Rupert Holmes and starring Frank Gorshin, and the Tony award winning musical The Boy From Oz, written by Nick Enright and Martin Sherman and starring the ever gracious Hugh Jackman. The NY theatre community kept its doors open allowing Tina to work with such industry greats as Barbara Cook, Liza Minnelli, Bebe Neuwirth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Eddie Izzard, Estelle Parsons, Andre DeShields, Horton Foote, Don Holder, and John Lee Beatty.

In addition to working as a production stage manager, Tina has worked as Production Manager on Off-Broadway productions and then for the regional touring venue Capital Center for the Arts. Managing for the CCA allowed Tina to work on more than 150 events and shows with artists such as Indigo Girls, BB King, Chris Botti, Chelsea Handler, and Train. Tina left the CCA to spend a few years working as the General Manager for the Cullen Performance Hall, a road house on the campus of the University of Houston.

In 2012 she moved her family to MI to begin working at MSU where she's helped to create and launch the Arts & Cultural Management Undergrad and Graduate programs and in fall of 2017, a new BFA program in Stage Management. In addition to teaching in these two programs, Tina continues to free-lance in the Corporate Event Industry as an event manager & showcaller. For 15 yrs she’s been managing and showcalling business theatre events for companies such as AOL, Reebok, MasterCard, Samsung, Motorola, and NASA. These gigs have taken her to exotic locations across the globe; places like India, Venice, Barcelona and the ever picturesque: Pittsburg.

Tina is married and lives with her technical director husband Mark and their two extremely talented young artists Zackery & Sofia.
