Why did you choose Michigan State University?

Because friends were going there.

How did Michigan State University help you prepare for your career?

MSU gave me a foundation on and a respect for the art of acting. Team of Four gave me the opportunity to be a professional actor while still an undergrad. The process of rehearsing and performing play after play was invaluable. I was also given opportunities to produce my own projects and this has served me well.

What was the most memorable experience at Michigan State University?

My first main stage role in Fairchild Theatre playing Stanley the waiter in DEATH OF A SALESMAN: observing John Goodlin, the artist in residence sitting quietly with his hat on his lap waiting to make his first entrance as Willy Loman. Also being cast as Jonathan Harker then taking over the lead role of Dracula when the actor playing that role broke his foot. Finally, my work in Studio 49 explored several memorable experimental productions that I loved.

What advice do you have for today’s students?

Know thyself. Live in the world. Stay curious. Explore the meaning of these words; humility, gratitude and presence.
