What if Wilhelmina is the newest development of the MSU Department of Theatre’s Sense-Ability Ensemble. The Sense-Ability Ensemble is a group of MSU Theatre students that create innovative, multi-sensory, interactive theatrical performances for audiences that are neurodiverse. The performers are trained to respond sensitively, tailoring sensory experiences to individual audience members, highlighting the power of diversity and ability, and striving to provide theatre access for all.
This true story features the character of Faith, a eight-year-old girl who is full of dread and “what ifs” when her cat, Wilhelmina, goes missing. Faith learns about the futility of worry and develops coping skills through music, movement, and the assistance of her Dad and Papa and some friendly puppets.
The Sense-Ability Ensemble’s past productions for audiences that are neurodiverse, including Farm! A Musical Experience, POND, and Soda Pop Shop, have elevated the Ensemble to a leader in this emerging field and have had significant impact on the national conversation, as well as on the lives of those the productions have touched. Funding for this project is through the MSU HARP grant program and the MSU Department of Theatre Sensory Theatre Fund. If you would like to donate to the Fund, please contact XXXXXX
