Well, it is finally here after a delay of two years – our 60+ Anniversary of presenting free theatre to Mid-Michigan audiences. We started this SCT rehearsal process by asking those who worked for this company in the past to talk about their favorite thing about Summer Circle Theatre. And the resounding answer was community. The community that the company creates with each other by working on so many shows in such a short time but most importantly the community bond between actors, directors, designers, stage managers, and audiences. Your energy and enthusiasm for SCT are what makes the Department of Theatre’s largest and longest outreach project worth producing each year. Our mission of creating free arts access for all is what drives us. We’re glad to see you back. Or if you are new to SCT – welcome and we hope you’ll make Summer Circle Theatre a tradition each summer like so many others.
We depend on your donations to keep SCT free and accessible to all. Please tap the donate button below or make a contribution in the boxes around the courtyard!

DIRECTOR NOTE
Thank you all so much for coming to the theatre to see The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong. It has been four years since I have directed for Summer Circle Theatre and I am very honored to be back during this important season. Trust me when I say that 60 years is a long time for a professional theatre to last especially given the occasional moments of tumult our country has gone through in that span. To survive, it takes the consistency of our shared passion of live performance and belief in our community. You all are an important player in our company. To bring free theatre to you on this beautiful campus is a delight. So, CHEERS to all of you and I hope you enjoy the show tonight! Oh! One more thing: if you are sitting close to the stage… I hope you have insurance.

DIRECTOR NOTE
I was always really drawn to an intimate Pippin. No flashy tricks just the simple story and a great score. We wanted to think of this production as “acoustic” in a way where our audiences would be involved emotionally (and physically for this version) in the simple joys of this classic show. So no circus acts; only storytelling of an everyman who believes he should be extraordinary. In the end the show asks is compromise a loss or merely life?
NOTE: Please note there is a lot of audience participation in Pippin. Actors will be in the audience alongside you. Masks are available for you from concessions and other SCT representatives.
RUN TIME: The running time of PIPPIN is 2 hours including one fifteen-minute intermission.
