Guest Artist & Puppeteer (2017)

Yari Helfeld is the co-director, performer and producer of the Theater Company “Y No Había Luz” participating actively in the educational aspect by offering workshops on creative movement, theatrical games, use and construction of masks and puppets and in the artistic aspect, performing as actress, dancer, musician, scriptwriting and the mounting of plays which are mostly original ones, created by the company members.

Some of her most recent performances and projects with her group are:  The exposition “Circo de la ausencia” on the gallery of the University of Sacred Heart; the participation on the Puerto Rican Parade on Chicago also an artistic recidency  in Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center on this same State; the participation on the Festival “Taller de titeres de Matanza’’, on Cuba; tour with the play “De Divan y Temporal’’ in 10 municipalities, the exposition “Y No Había Luz, 10 años de trayectoria”, in the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico; his documentary “Una mirada interna de un grupo de teatro”;  Her participation in the Twelfth Editions of “Sobre la Mesa”, creating twelve original pieces of puppets in small format; the presentation of the piece “Menos” in La Habana, Cuba and in Vermont, United States; Y No Habia Luz in “Repertorio” at the University of Puerto Rico Theater; “Jueves Sin Luz” at the Nuyorican Café, San Juan, P.R.; “Cutendencia” in Punta Arenas, Chile; the participation of the company in the movie “ECO”, by Banco Popular; among other.
