The classic play within a play, as several characters from an unwritten script show up at a theatre ready to act out their tale.

In this 1921 play, Pirandello explores the lines between fact and fiction and the real and imaginary as a rehearsal at a theatre company is interrupted by a group of characters whose tragedy unfolds before the stunned theatre company. As this play within a play unfolds the tale of these imaginary characters seems more real and heartbreaking than that of the real actors.
