The Master of Art Degree program in Theatre has flexibility for study embodied in either the Thesis or the Comprehensive Exam requirement. During the completion of the core academic classes, one may refine research interests through electives and tutorials. By completion of the first semester, an area of specialty will be identified and an Advisor/Mentor will be selected to guide your research and/or thesis writing.

Candidates in the Master of Arts Degree program frequently teach in the IAH (Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities) program Theatre and Society course and are welcome to take as active role in the Department’s production season.
A total of 30 credits are required with class offerings as follows: In addition to class credits, students will conclude their studies with either the submission of a thesis or by taking a comprehensive exam.
Core Classes
A total of 8 additional credits are required for students submitting a thesis.
A total of 12 additional credits are required for students taking the comprehensive exams.
